The semi-derelict Robinson’s Shaft mine complex is a Listed Grade II building and a proposed Schedules Ancient Monument.
The Heartlands Project will see the buildings sympathetically and innovatively restored to an extremely high standard to allow its adoption as one of Cornwall’s key interpretation sites for the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site.

The centre will utilise the latest technologies to ensure that it is accessible to all, from academics to young children. The complex will house an innovation and interpretation centre which will:
- Interpret Cornish culture – past, present and future
- House a digital collection of local history including oral, written and visual material
- Study Cornwall’s massive population migration.
