The project will drive – and set the standards for – sympathetic local regeneration, attracting housing and business development, and crucially creating jobs.
Around 44,000 local residents from Pool and the adjoining towns of Camborne and Redruth will benefit from the project. It is anticipated that the new landscape could attract around 200,000 visitors per year.
The Heartlands Project will benefit both local people and visitors through transforming the physical and built environment in Pool as a place to offer a series of activities that will breath new life into the area. The project will act as a catalyst for the wider regeneration of Pool which will create more jobs and opportunities for the whole community, once more making Pool a great place to live, work and play.
With the improved environment in Pool it is hoped that there will be an increase in community spirit, with something to be proud of in the area, and use on a daily basis. This appeal will also spread to the wider region, with Pool becoming a desirable place to invest and visit.

Within Heartlands there will be numerous benefits for people:
- Opportunities to learn on a formal and informal basis, with partners including Cornwall College, the local Schools and others with a education remit, but also with people understanding more about their cultural heritage through visiting the World Heritage Site visitor experience
- The play experience is also one which will appeal to all ages, be it young children or older members of the community, there will be something for everyone to enjoy and appreciate
- Health benefits through a higher quality environment in which leisure activities will take place; links to the cycle routes and much more
- Social Inclusion benefits by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors to participate in and enjoy…
